Challenge
Independent clients across food & beverage, wine, and civic communities each needed brand and web work that read as bigger than its budget — the kind of system a small operator can keep running on their own after the engagement ends. The throughline across fifteen years of Tunafish Industries clients: the deliverable has to outlive the designer.
Approach
Founded and run Tunafish Industries as an independent brand & web practice — brand, creative direction, and web for clients chosen because the work matters to them, not because the retainer scales. Food & beverage: Karascupcakes brand refresh and e-commerce work that lifted online sales +20%. Wine: Flora Springs and VinoCartel — packaging, storytelling, and trade-facing materials in a category where label craft is the brand. Community: Community Foundation of Lafayette — civic-trust refresh and donor-facing site rebuild, clarity and credibility over decoration.
Outcome
A portfolio of independent engagements running from 2010 to the present, with several clients on multi-year retainers. Karascupcakes online sales +20%. Flora Springs and VinoCartel work in the field as trade-facing identity systems. The Community Foundation of Lafayette site lives as the donor-facing surface for a foundation that needed to look like a balance sheet that respects you, not a campaign.
