Challenge

Cal Bears Athletics and CSU East Bay Pioneers needed game-day photography that could move at editorial speed — frames in the hands of social, comms, and brand teams the same day a game ended, not next week. The work had to span action, brand, and editorial in a single coverage shift, because the downstream uses ran from in-game social to season-recap features without re-shooting.

Approach

Joined KLC fotos as a contributing photographer on Cal Bears and CSU East Bay Pioneers coverage. Built a shot list that triages every play for three uses — action for social, brand frames for athletic department channels, and editorial frames for longer-form features — so a single shooting position carries three deliverables. Same-day Photoshelter delivery during games: cull, tone, and upload in-between quarters so the comms team is publishing while the game is still being played.

Outcome

Same-day turnaround on every game covered, with frames split cleanly across action, brand, and editorial use. The work continues — building a multi-season library for both programs that holds up against the editorial standards their comms teams set.
